The biodiversity of food crops is important as it is the foundation of sustainable food systems and resilient production systems. Kerala, the state known as a hotspot of biodiversity, is now facing an erosion of the diversity. The narrowing diversity base, threatens the sustainability of the system, affects the food safety, security and nutritional balance. From the side of farming community, crop diversification is the best risk management tool, as well.

Considering this scenario, KAU is organizing a one day National Seminar on “Crop Diversity for Better Health” at Central Auditorium, Kerala Agricultural University, Vellanikkara on 15/11/2019 at 10.00 am.

The seminar would create a platform for assessing the status, threats and interventions required for protecting the agro biodiversity for sustaining the system and ensuring the health and well being of the society.
