As part of the Foundation Day (01/02/2024) of Kerala Agricultural University, an inauguration ceremony was organized to inaugurate the Weather Data Centre and Automatic Weather Station at College of Agriculture, Padannakkad. The facilities were created by using the funds from Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana – Remunerative Approaches for Agriculture and Allied Sectors Rejuvenation (RKVY-RAFTAAR). As part of the project, four Automatic Weather Stations have been installed at different places in the district viz., College of Agriculture, Padannakkad; State Seed Farm, Pullur; Cashew Development Office, Adhur; Extension Training Centre, Manjeshwar. Apart from that, Weather Data Centre also has been established at College of Agriculture, Padannakkad which aims at collecting weather data from Automatic Weather Station and generating weather forecast.
The inauguration ceremony was headed by Nileshwar Minicipality Chairperson Ms. Shantha P.V and presided by Dr. Sajitha Rani T, Dean, College of Agriculture, Padannakkad. Automatic Weather Stations and Weather Data Centre was inaugurated by Ms. Shantha P.V and Ms. Mini P John, Principal Agricultural Officer, respectively. Dr. Sujatha R, ADR (Coconut Mission), Dr. Shreekumar K.M (Professor & Head, Dept of Entomology) had addressed the gathering. Dr. Manikandan N, PI of the project has welcomed the gathering and Dr. Mini P.K (Professor & Head, Agricultural Engineering) has delivered the vote of thanks.
