College of Agriculture Vellayani which was established in 1955, is organizing one week platinum jubilee celebrations from 22" to 29" May 2025. This international seminar, organised as the part of platinum jubilee celebrations, aims to bring together policymakers, researchers, academicians, practitioners, entrepreneurs and community leaders to deliberate on innovative policies, technologies and community-led solutions for advancing sustainable urban and peri-urban agriculture (UPA). The seminar focuses on strengthening resilicnt, inclusive and circular urban food systcms that contribute to greener citics, biodiversity conservation, livelihood generation and public health.
This seminar is organized in collaboration with the C. Achutha Mcnon Foundation and the Kerala State Horticulture Mission (SHM). The C. Achutha Menon Foundation is a public interest, non-profit organization committed to advancing democratic governance, social justice, and inclusive development through dialogue, research, and policy engagement. It also publishes a quarterly journal titled Social Science Perspective. The Kerala State Horticulture Mission (SHM) is a government initiative aimed at promoting the holistic development of the horticulture sector through mission-mode strategies, farmer-centric schemes, and sustainable technologies.
