As a part of the international millet year 2023,1(K) naval NCC unit in association with the Department of Agricultural Extension Education, College of Agriculture, Vellayani conducted a special campaign on the International year of Millets 2023 on 13th December 2023, at the College of Agriculture, Vellayani.
The event commenced with the inauguration by Brigadier Anand Kumar, Group Commander of NCC Trivandrum Group, who delivered the inaugural address. Dr. Roy Stephen, the Dean of the Faculty at the College of Agriculture, Vellayani, Captain Sunil Kumar, Commanding Officer of 1(K) Naval Unit NCC, and other teaching faculty members from the college, as well as NCC cadets representing various colleges and schools under the 1(K) unit, actively participated in the program. The event featured diverse activities such as lecture sessions, quiz competitions, and a visit to the Millet Museum for the cadets.
As a significant aspect of the program, NCC cadets were presented with a millet book, serving as a comprehensive guide to millets. This book covered essential information about the health and nutritional benefits associated with millets.
