Growing vegetables is gaining tremendous popularity, especially among urban dwellers. Maintaining vegetable gardens in terraces and balconies is a practical option for an urban farmer. To support such farmers, IFSRS, Karamana, functioning under the Kerala Agricultural University, has developed different structures/models for vertical farming, each with unique features. A model terrace garden, of nearly 3 cents, maintained here, produces about 350 kg of vegetables annually by way of increased production from unit area through vertical intensification using different structures
